Ran this command to add a new option called 'Command Prompt' to the context menu that appears when on right-clicking a folder:

C:\>reg add
"HKCR\Directory\shell\Command Prompt\command" /f /ve /d "cmd.exe /k cd
%1"

The operation completed successfully

C:\>

This command adds a registry entry to add this option to the context menu of directories.

Once the command has been run successfully, the 'Command Prompt' option would appear on right-clicking a folder. Clicking it would open a Command Prompt window with the current directory set to the path of the folder that was clicked.

The option can be removed by running:
C:\>reg delete
"HKCR\Directory\shell\Command Prompt" /f

The operation completed successfully

C:\>

Whoa! I installed FileMenu Tools primarily for the "Command prompt here" functionality (since PowerToy works only for XP). This looks good, will try it on Vista and 7.

Or install http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/CmdHerePowertoySetup.exe

But I don't know how to right click on blank space inside a folder and select "Command prompt". That is the usual use case. We will be in a folder and want to open the same folder in cmd. Going one step back and right clicking is pain. Any idea how to do this?
